The new 2019 Germania Oak Leaf Rounds include designs inspired by the ancient world and the beliefs of Germanic people in Central Europe. While one side includes the popular double-headed eagle that dates back to Roman mythology from the turn of the first millennium, the other features two symbols critical to the lives of Germanic tribes.

Oak trees are one of the most common plants in the world with more than 600 species native to the Northern Hemisphere from North America and Europe to Russia and Asia. Oak trees are known as symbols of strength and endurance, with Ancient Germanic tribes among the first to adopt the symbol for those reasons.

The obverse face of the 2019 1 oz Proof Silver Germania Oak Leaf Rounds includes the image of a large oak leaf with a single acorn at the bottom of the stem. Ancient Germanic people worshipped at an oak tree that became known as Donar’s Oak and the tree was later cut down for use in the construction of a chapel by Christian missionaries.

On the reverse side of 2019 Proof Silver Germania Oak Leaf Rounds is the seal of the Germania Mint. The mint uses the double-headed eagle that arose from Roman mythology and the god Janus, the guardian of passageways. This double-headed eagle clutches a corkscrew arrow in either talon that has two arrowheads. The double-headed eagle eventually became part of the heraldic shield and arms of the German Empire in the late-19th century.

These 2019 1 oz Proof Silver Germania Oak Leaf Rounds are available to you as proof rounds with frosted elements overlaying mirrored background fields. The silver rounds in this listing come with a protective capsule and Oak Leaf-themed presentation case. Included with your purchase is a Certificate of Authenticity from the Germania Mint as well.
