Mints around the globe previously celebrated the 50^th anniversary of Star Trek: The Original Series’ debut on American television in 1966 with 2016 proof colorized coins. For this special 2019 release, the reverse side of the coin includes a design concept envisioned by William Shatner, the man who portrayed Captain Kirk on both the big screen and the small screen over the course of four decades.

The case is shipped to you inside of a Star Trek-themed shipper and comes with an individually numbered Certificate of Authenticity.

The reverse side of 2019 Proof Silver Tuvalu Captain Kirk Coins includes colorized design fields depicting William Shatner in the role of Captain James T. Kirk, commander of the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701. In the design on this side, Kirk is captured in real-life colors on the bridge of the Enterprise as the depths of space behind him yield a brightly colorized view of Jupiter and some of its surrounding moons.

William Shatner did not design the images on the reverse of these coins, but he envisioned a depiction of himself as Captain Kirk for the coins with Jupiter visible in the background. According to the Perth Mint, Shatner even weighed in on the final design saying it is “a lovely design filled with meaning. Shatner played Kirk in all three seasons of The Original Series and seven feature films released across the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s.

On the obverse of the 2019 1 oz Proof Silver Tuvalu Captain Kirk Coins is the image of Queen Elizabeth II. This is the fourth-generation design created in 1998 by Ian Rank-Broadley.
