The Silver American Eagle coin features one of the most popular historic US coin designs. Introduced in 1916 on the US half-dollar coin, this image of Walking Liberty was created by Adolph A. Weinman and used on the circulation 50-cent piece through 1947 when it was replaced by the image of Benjamin Franklin.
Today, all 2019 1 oz Silver American Eagle coins you purchase in this listing are available in Brilliant Uncirculated condition and come inside of a protective capsule. The coins have an added application of 24-karat gold on the obverse design of Walking Liberty. Though not enough to alter the precious metal value of the coin, the gold does create a visual contrast between Liberty and her background field.
On the obverse of 2019 1 oz Silver American Eagle Gilded Coins is the image of Walking Liberty. Weinman’s design is thought to reflect the nation’s march toward a brighter future as Liberty is shown walking toward the setting sun on the horizon chasing the day. The application of the 24-karat gold for the gilded finish is found only on Liberty’s figure, the ground beneath her feet, and the sun and mountains on the horizon.
The reverse of 2019 Silver American Eagle Coins features the heraldic eagle of the United States. This modern version of the seal was updated in 1986 by John Mercanti for use on the Silver Eagle coins. It depicts the American bald eagle behind the US heraldic shield. It clutches arrows of war in one talon and the olive branch of peace in the other. Above its head is a triangular cluster of 13 stars representing the original American colonies.
