On the obverse of all 2019 1 oz Silver American Eagle Coins is the design of Walking Liberty. This image features Liberty in left-profile relief as she walks toward the sun on the horizon. She wears the American flag over her shoulders with one hand outstretched toward the horizon and the other clutching leaves of oak and laurel.
The reverse of 2019 Silver American Eagles features the heraldic eagle of the United States. The design was first introduced in 1794 as designed by Robert Scot, the first Chief Engraver of the United States Mint. John Mercanti modernized the image in 1986 for use on the Silver American Eagle coins. It includes the American bald eagle behind the national shield as it clutches the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace in its talons.
