The Perth Mint is well known for producing some of the most coveted silver bullion coins in the world today. Among its many popular offerings, you’ll find coins like the Silver Australian Kangaroo, the Silver Australian Koala, and these long-running Silver Australian Kookaburra coins. The oldest silver coin the group, the Kookaburra debuted in 1990 and set a trend for Perth Mint coinage. Now, 2019 1 oz Silver Australian Kookaburra Coins are available to you online for purchase at Silver.com with NGC certification.

Coin Highlights:

  • Coins ship to you in an NGC protective plastic slab!
  • 30th different design of the Kookaburra in this series!
  • Availability of certified coins is limited!
  • Consists of One Troy ounce of .9999 fine silver.
  • Issued a face value of $1 (AUD) by Australia.
  • Bears a Grade of Mint State 69 from the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation.
  • On the obverse is Queen Elizabeth II.
  • The reverse includes the new Kookaburra design.

When the Silver Australian Kookaburra coin debuted in 1990 it set the stage for Perth Mint’s design focus for decades to come. The Silver Kookaburra has, since that time, used a new reverse design depicting this prominent member of the kingfisher species in a different relief each year. Other coins, such as the rebranded Gold Australian Kangaroo, Silver Koala, and Silver Kangaroo have all followed course.

The 2019 Silver Australian Kookaburra coin comes with a new design of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse side. This is the first update to the monarch’s effigy of Australian coinage since 1998, and though it is based on the Royal Mint of England’s fifth-generation design, it is actually the sixth different one on Australian coins during her reign.

In that obverse design on the 2019 1 oz Silver Australian Kookaburra, you’ll find a right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is depicted wearing the Royal Diadem crown and Victorian coronation earrings. This is the first design since 1966 to depict Her Majesty’s neckline and shoulders in the portrait.

The reverse of 2019 Silver Kookaburra Coins features a new kookaburra design as well. This year, the terrestrial tree kingfisher is depicted on the branch of a sunken tree as the sun sets on the horizon in the distance. The rays of the setting sun even ripple across the water’s surface in this intricate design.

These 2019 1 oz Silver Australian Kookaburra Coins are available to you in Mint State 69 condition. Considered near-perfect coins, these specimens showcase full, original mint luster with a maximum of two minor flaws. Such flaws are limited in nature to minuscule contact marks and hairlines.
