On the obverse of 2019 Silver Kingdom of Bhutan Lunar Boar coins is the image of a boar for the Year of the Pig issue. The boar is a wild cousin of the domesticated pig and is depicted in this issue in similar fashion to the previous three coins in this collection. The design is heavily stylized and features large, swirling clouds for the ears and legs of the boar.
The reverse of 2019 1 oz Silver Kingdom of Bhutan Lunar Boars features the image of the memorial chortens found in the Dochula Pass. Depicted here are the 108 chortens constructed to honor the 108 Bhutanese soldiers who were killed in 2003 in a battle with Assamese insurgents from neighboring India. The structures are visible along the main Himalayan pass between the cities of Thimpu and Punakha.
