The Krugerrand is the most well-known coin in the world and its gold version has been available for sale since 1967, making it the oldest bullion investment coin in the world today. In 2017, the South African Mint and Rand Refinery celebrated a milestone 50th anniversary for the Gold Krugerrand by introducing a Silver Krugerrand for the first time ever. In 2018, that coin became a regular staple in the series. Now you can purchase 2019 1 oz Silver South African Krugerrand Coins online at Silver.com with a gilded finish.

Silver Krugerrand coins debuted in 2017 as Premium Uncirculated coins with an issue date mark and a commemorative one denoting the 50th anniversary of the Krugerrand program. That coin had a set mintage cap and was not to be released again in that format. In 2018, the standard Silver Krugerrand bullion coin debuted. The coins proved immensely popular with investors and collectors in 2017, leading to the introduction of a new annual version of the coin.

2019 marks the second release of the Silver South African Krugerrand coin and it comes with additional options available that appeal to collectors. The gilded Silver Krugerrand is one such example. Gilded coins typically have a thin layer of 24-karat gold on one design element of the coin for added visual brilliance and a clearer contrast between the background field and the design itself.

The reverse of 2019 1 oz Silver South African Krugerrand Coins is where you’ll find the gilded finish on these specimens. Coert Steynberg’s depiction of a Springbok antelope running through a field is the only portion of the design to which the 24-karat gold layer was applied.

On the obverse of 2019 Silver South African Krugerrand gilded coins features the effigy of Paul Kruger. There is no gilded layer on this side, only the left-profile portrait of the South African Republic’s first elected president as designed in 1984 by Otto Schultz.

These 2019 1 oz Silver South African Krugerrand Coins are available to you with protective packaging and come in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. These coins are standard silver bullion issues in the 2019 Silver Krugerrand release with a thin layer of 24-karat gold. A gilded layer does not change the coin’s precious metal value as the amount is very minimal, but rather, it boosts the visual brilliance of the coins.
