Silver Mexican Libertad coins feature one of the most popular symbols in Mexico. Winged Victory is inspired by the Roman goddess of victory, known as Victoria. Known to the Ancient Greeks as Nike, this female personification has been adapted to its uses as Mexico’s symbol of victory in its independence struggle with Spain in the 19th century. Winged Victory has not only the wreath crown, but also a set of broken chains in one hand.
All 2019 2 oz Antique Silver Mexican Libertad Coins are available to you with an antique polish. For just the second time in this series history, the Antique Silver Libertad is available with a polish that creates the appearance of age and history on a coin that was newly struck in 2019. Each individual coin is housed inside of a protective plastic capsule for shipping.
The obverse of 2019 Antique Silver Mexican Libertad Coins includes the image of Winged Victory. Her figure is featured in left-profile relief as she appears at the top of the Mexican Independence Victory Column. Her right hand is outstretched and holds a wreath crown, a symbol of independent governance. Her left hand is behind her figure and holds the broken chains of servitude representing Mexico’s freedom from Spain.
On the reverse of 2019 2 oz Antique Silver Mexican Libertad Coins is a depiction of the coat of arms. Mexico’s modern coat of arms is at the center of this complex design field. It features a golden eagle on the arm of a cactus using its beak and talons to battle a serpent. “Estados Unidos Mexicanos” is engraved at the top and a wreath is below. Around the outer edge, there are 10 historical versions of this same design.
