Coins in the Gold American Eagle bullion series have mintages based on investor demand. The Gold Bullion Coin Act of 1985 authorizing the coins stipulates that the Treasury Department and United States Mint must strike the bullion versions of American Eagle coins to match the demand of investors.

As such, the Gold American Eagles have seen mintage figures ebb and flow with the demand and prices for gold. The 1/10 oz Gold Eagle has experienced two significant surges in its demand during its more than three decades of availability. The first came in 1998 and 1999 when all four options experienced surging demand amidst Y2K concerns. The 1/10 oz gold coin set a record in 1999 with 2.75 million, and also experienced the highest mintages in the series in 2015 and 2016 when demand for Gold Eagles was rising.

On the obverse of 2020 1/10 oz Gold American Eagles, you will find the image of Lady Liberty. This image depicts Liberty in front-facing relief walking toward the viewer. Her right hand holds a torch out to light the way as her left hand clutches a large olive branch. The US Capitol Building is visible at her feet as 50 stars encircle her figure.

The reverse of 2020 Gold American Eagles bears the design of American bald eagles. This design includes a male eagle flying over the family nest as a female eagle and a hatchling rest within the nest.

These 2020 1/10 oz Gold American Eagles are near-perfect coins with a Mint State 69 certification. An MS69 grade indicates a coin with full, original mint luster and no more than two minor detracting flaws. Examples of those flaws include minuscule contact marks or hairlines.
