Each 2020 1/2 oz Gold American Eagle available to you right now at Silver.com comes with a near-perfect certification. These flaws are limited in nature to minuscule contact marks or hairlines and are found only outside of the primary focal points of the coin.
Gold American Eagle 1/2 oz coins are typically the lowest minted in the series. Available from 1986 when the series debuted, the 1/2 oz gold bullion coin has had the lowest mintage of the four available coins in all but six years. The last time it wasn’t the lowest minted coin was 2007 when it outsold only the 1/4 oz gold coin. It has never been the top-selling coin and never outsold the 1/10 oz or 1 oz gold coins in the collection.
The obverse side of 2020 Gold American Eagles features the image of Lady Liberty. Designed in 1907, this image was created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens and originally featured on the $20 Gold Double Eagle coin until 1933. It features Lady Liberty in front-facing relief with a torch in one hand, an olive branch in the other, and 50 stars around her figure.
On the reverse face of 2020 1/2 oz Gold American Eagles is a design from Miley Busiek. Created specifically for the Gold Eagles in 1986, this image depicts a male eagle in flight over the nest with a female in the nest guarding a young hatchling.
