In the Somalia Elephant Series, the Bavarian State Mint offers one of the few silver and gold bullion coin collections with new designs on one side each year. Other notable programs that do the same include the Gold Chinese Panda. The use of a new design on the reverse of Gold Somalia Elephant Series each year creates collectible interest in the bullion coins.

The series began in 1999 and was introduced in 2004 for the nation of Somalia. Prior to and following the shift to Somalia, the series has used new designs each year. Originally a limited mintage collection, the Gold Somalia Elephant coins are now struck to meet the demand of buyers rather than sticking to mintage caps.

On the reverse of 2020 1/2 oz Gold Somalia Elephant Coins is the image of two adult African bush elephants. These massive land mammals are the largest and heaviest alive today. As they age, the ivory tusks of the elephant grow to incredible lengths. The elephant on the left is a senior elephant and leader of the family unit as noted by the long tusks that stretch the length of its trunk. The other elephant is also an adult, but has much shorter tusks.

The obverse of 2020 Gold Somalia Elephant Coins includes the design of the coat of arms for the Somali Republic. The seal includes a crowned shield with a field of horizontal lines and a single star in the center. It is supported on either side by a leopard, with crossed spears and fern leaves below.

These 2020 1/2 oz Gold Somalia Elephant Coins are in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The coins are available to purchase individually inside of protective capsules or in mint tubes of 20 coins.
