2020 marks the return of the Year of the Mouse on the Chinese lunar calendar. The Year of the Mouse is the first in the 12-year cycle of the Zodiac and is the lead-off issue in the new Lunar Series III program from the Perth Mint. An exciting new range of designs will feature in the years to come in this collection. The 2020 1/2 oz Silver Australian Lunar Mouse Coin is now available to you for purchase online at Silver.com.

Coin Highlights:

  • Coins ship to you inside of individual acrylic capsules or boxes of 100 coins!
  • First coin design released in the Lunar Series III program!
  • Mintage is unlimited through the end of 2020!
  • Consists of One-Half Troy ounce of .9999 fine silver in BU condition.
  • Issued a face value of $.50 (AUD) by Australia.
  • Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse.
  • Two mice on a corn stalk on the reverse.
  • Designs by Ing Ing Jong.

The Perth Mint rolls right from the conclusion of its Lunar Series II collection in 2019 into the new Lunar Series III program. Debuting with 2020 date-marked coins for the Year of the Mouse, the Lunar Series III collection has silver, gold, and platinum bullion coins. The new 1 oz platinum bullion coin is available for the first time ever in a Perth Mint lunar collection.

Each of the silver and gold bullion coins have unique designs, with the silver coins featuring two mice on a corn stalk while the gold coins have one mouse with wheat stalks. The platinum coin will not have its own unique design, but rather, shares the design from the gold bullion coin.

On the obverse of 2020 1/2 oz Silver Australian Lunar Mouse Coin is the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. This is the sixth-generation portrait of the Queen for Australian coins and was designed by Jody Clark, the same man who created the Royal Mint of England’s fifth-generation portrait for British coins.

The reverse of 2020 Silver Australian Lunar Mouse Coins includes unique Year of the Mouse design. Here, you’ll find that two mice have peeled back the husk of a corn stalk and are dining on the corn within. This side of the Silver Australian Lunar coins features a new security feature. A micro-engraved letter is found within the design element on this side and it is only visible under magnification.

These 2020 1/2 oz Silver Australian Lunar Mouse Coins are available to you in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The 1/2 oz silver coins in the Lunar Series III program are available individually in acrylic capsules or in multiples of 100 coins in boxes.
