1/25 oz Gold Austrian Philharmonics debuted in 2014. This is the latest addition to the Gold Philharmonic coin series and was initially planned for release only in 2014 to mark the 25th anniversary of the series. It proved so popular that the Austrian Mint kept it as an annual release option.
On the obverse side of 2020 1/25 oz Gold Austrian Philharmonics is a depiction of the Great Pipe Organ. This massive musical instrument is housed inside of the Musikverein. Otherwise known as the Golden Concert Hall, this is where the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra performs most of its concerts in Austria.
The reverse side of 2020 Gold Austrian Philharmonics features an array of musical instruments commonly used by members of the orchestra. Included in the design are the cello, violin, bassoon, harp, and French horn. Each instrument is depicted once, with the exception of the violin which numbers four in total, two on either side of the cello in the center.
2020 1/25 oz Gold Austrian Philharmonics tend to have the lowest mintage figure in the series among the five available coins. The only year it outsold other coins was its debut in 2014. The 78,551 coins sold in this weight that year surpassed both the 1/4 oz and 1/2 oz gold coins.
