Gold American Eagle Coins were introduced in 1986 with four weights available in the bullion series. In addition to these 1/4 oz Gold Eagles, you can purchase 1 oz, 1/2 oz, and 1/10 oz coins in this series. These weights are available in the proof series as well, but were released in stages from 1986 to 1988. The burnished coin is only available in 1 oz gold.
All of the 2020 1/4 oz Gold American Eagle Coins in this product listing come with Mint State 70 certifications. The Mint State 70 grade indicates the coins have full, original mint luster and lack any possible detracting flaws on the surface areas of the coins.
On the obverse of these 2020 1/4 oz Gold American Eagles is Lady Liberty. This front-facing relief of Liberty was created in 1907 by Augustus Saint-Gaudens and designed for use in a high-relief strike. Instead, it was produced on the $20 Gold Double Eagle in traditional relief. This design has 50 stars around her frame, but maintains all the original elements of her torch, olive branch, and the US Capitol Building.
The reverse side of 2020 1/4 oz Gold Eagles bears a family of American bald eagles. You will find an American bald eagle in flight over the nest as a female eagle extends her wing to shelter a young hatchling inside of the nest.
All Gold American Eagles are produced by the United States Mint at the West Point Mint facility. However, you will find no mint marks on the bullion versions of the coin.
