The origins of nutcracker dolls can be traced back to the late-17th century in Germany. In particular, the first nutcrackers were prominent in the Ore Mountains region of Germany. This region borders the Saxony and Bohemia regions. The original purpose of nutcrackers seems to have been largely as a gift, and eventually, the figures became associated with the Christmas season.
All of the 2020 1 oz Colorized Silver Nutcracker Rounds are available to you brand new from the issuing mint. The rounds are individually packaged inside of acrylic capsules that have a loop at the top of the design. The round and its capsule come inside of a holiday-themed velvet pouch with a drawstring enclosure. These silver rounds have a beautiful colorization on the obverse and reverse fields.
The obverse side of the 2020 Colorized Silver Nutcracker Rounds features a depiction of two nutcrackers. The traditional soldier, a figure often shown in Classical Era military regalia, is colorized with bright colors. In a nod to the classic two-part ballet, The Nutcracker, the ballerina is featured on the left side next to the nutcracker soldier.
The colorizations added to this side of the silver round include a bright-blue field with soft, white snowflakes falling in the background. The soldier and ballerina both wear outfits of white, blue, and red with trims and crowns of gold. There is a red design rim on this side.
On the reverse face of 2020 1 oz Colorized Silver Nutcracker Rounds is a clean, beautiful silver finish. The only colorization on this side of the round is the red design rim, just like the obverse side. The inscriptions on this side include the weight of the silver round in the center, with the purity and metal content included below. The SMI mark of Sunshine Minting is found on the obverse.
