The 12 Guardians legends of Ancient Korea. The people of Korea believed in the 12 Guardians as the saviors of the mortal world and benevolent protectors. It was said that the 12 Guardians watched over the world from 12 different directions to detect the rise of evil forces in the world. In the case of the Rattus, many of the 12 Guardians worked with Chiwoo Cheonwang to protect the world.

On the obverse side of the 2020 1 oz Gold South Korean Zi:Sin Rattus Medal is a depiction of the battle shield of Chiwoo Cheonwang with a new face of Do ggae bi. The vision of Do ggae bi featured here is new for 2020 and offers a grinning image of the hideous beast. In this design, he has bushy eyebrows with flared nostrils and more pronounced teeth. You will also notice the creature now has bull’s horns on its head.

The reverse face of 2020 Gold South Korean Zi:Sin Rattus Medals shows the fourth guardian in the series from KOMSCO. Rattus holds the position of Queen of the Underworld. Her domain is an underground cave within Chiwoo’s Empire. From here she uses her special powers to foresee the rise of danger and a great war on the horizon. When she has this vision, she will alert Chiwoo.
