The galagos, better known in English as bushbabies, are small nocturnal primates native the sub-Saharan regions of the African continent. The galagos are known in Afrikaans as the nagapies and the term refers to the fact that the bushbabies are seen almost exclusively at night. The English-language translation of “bushbaby” is believed to have been derived from either its appearance, as adorable little animals, or the cries of the bushbaby. The true origin of the name is, however, unknown.

All 2020 1 oz Proof Silver Rwandan Bushbaby Coins are available to you packaged inside of individual protective capsules. Each coin in this series has a limited mintage in the proof release and features a Certificate of Authenticity from the mint. The proof version of the Rwandan Wildlife Series coins includes frosted design elements overlaying mirrored background fields.

The African continent is outlined on the obverse field of all 2020 1 oz Proof Silver Rwandan Bushbaby Coins. This element features on all coins in the Rwandan Wildlife Series, with the lower-left field along the Atlantic coast of Africa bearing a new design element with each release. In 2020, this area of the design field has the depiction of a bushbaby family with a young bushbaby and its mother clinging to a small tree branch.

A depiction of the Rwandan Coat of Arms is found on the reverse of the 2020 1 oz Proof Silver Rwandan Bushbaby Coins. The national seal includes a traditional hut in the center flanked by the wooden shields of indigenous Rwandans. The national motto is featured below the seal with the name of the nation above. The outer rim of the design field includes the bank of issue for the coins and the face value. Inscriptions on this side are in the native Rwandan tongue known as Kinyarwanda, one of three languages spoken in Rwandan alongside French and Swahili.
