Investors and collectors alike know that Silver American Eagles are available from the United States Mint each year in three versions. The bullion coin is a favorite with investors, while collectors tend toward the proof and burnished versions of the coin. However, there is a small segment of the bullion coins purchased each year by authorized dealers and offered as colorized or gilded coins for a unique twist on this classic design. Today, 2020 1 oz Silver American Eagles are available to you online at Silver.com.

The United States Mint does not colorize or add gilded layers to any of its coins during its production process. However, authorized third-party dealers will purchase bullion versions of its coins and complete these applications to create collectible versions out of the bullion coins in the series. Each of these coins has a thin layer of 24-karat gold applied to select obverse elements to generate visual brilliance without significantly enhancing the precious metal value of the coins.
All 2020 1 oz Silver American Eagles offered in this Silver.com listing come from the bullion release and are in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The coins are housed individually inside of plastic capsules.
Walking Liberty can be found on the obverse of the 2020 1 oz Silver American Eagles. Created by Adolph A. Weinman, this design appeared on the Walking Liberty Half Dollar from 1916 to 1947 and is widely regarded as one of the greatest American coin designs of all-time. It depicts Liberty as she strides toward the sun on the horizon with her right hand reaching toward the sun, oak and laurel branches in her left hand, and the American flag draped over her shoulders.
The 24-karat gilded gold layer is applied to select elements on this side of the coin. Liberty’s figure, along with the oak and laurel branches and the American flag, all shine in brilliant 24-karat gold. The sun, its rays, the mountain range, and the valley below are all gilded with the impressive gold layering as well. Finally, the date mark of “2020” at the bottom includes the gilded finish. All other background elements are still in beautiful silver.
For the reverse of 2020 1 oz Silver American Eagles in this listing, the heraldic eagle of the United States is visible. First designed in 1792 by Robert Scot, this modern take on the national emblem comes from John Mercanti and was modified for the Silver Eagle release in 1986.
