Koalas are one of the foremost native species in the Australian continent. A common misnomer regarding the koala is that it is a bear species, when in reality it is a marsupial like the kangaroo and wallaby. Just like the kangaroo and wallaby, the koala is endemic to the Australian continent and only exists in zoos outside of this corner of the world.
All of the 2020 1 oz Silver Australian Incuse Koalas in this product listing are available to you with beautiful Perth Mint displays. The classic Perth Mint black display case has a clear lid and ships to you with a blue, themed shipper from the mint. Included with your purchase is a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
These 2020 Silver Australian Koalas are incuse struck, high-relief specimens. High-relief strikes create greater visual depth, while an incuse strike is one that puts the design elements beneath the surface of the coin rather than engraving the elements onto the surface.
Queen Elizabeth II is found on the obverse of 2020 1 oz Silver Australian Incuse Koalas. This is the sixth-generation bust of the Queen to feature on Australian coins. It was designed in July 2015 by Jody Clark for the Royal Mint of England and began to debut on Australian coins in 2018. With the Queen’s shoulders and neckline visible, it marks a first for this kind of design since 1966.
A koala is depicted in the newest design for the series on the reverse of the 2020 Silver Australian Incuse Koala. This design features an adult koala clinging with all four paws to the limb of a tree.
