The Silver Kangaroo coin from the Perth Mint was a trendsetter for the Western Australia facility when it debuted in 2016. While the Silver Kookaburra and Silver Koala have been available for a longer period of time, these coins had never been issued with .9999 fine silver. The 2016 debut of the Silver Kangaroo brought the first .9999 fine silver coin to the Perth Mint’s annual lineup of Australian wildlife-themed coins. Today, 2020 1 oz Silver Australian Kangaroos are available to you online at Silver.com with a gilded layer.

The Perth Mint has an impressive track record when it comes to its annual-release bullion coins. Native animal species of the Australian continent are the primary focus of its bullion series, including the kangaroo, kookaburra, and koala. The Gold Kangaroo came first in 1986, followed by the Silver Kookaburra in 1990, and the Silver Koala in 2007. Those silver coins had .999 fine silver content through 2017, but the Silver Kangaroo’s 2016 debut changed it all with .9999 fine silver. This is now the standard for the Silver Kookaburra and Silver Koala as of 2018.
All of these 2020 1 oz Silver Australian Kangaroos are available to you in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The coins are exceptionally housed with a black display case that has a clear lid, enabling you to see the gilded reverse design element at all times. The coin and its display box are housed inside of a 2020 Gilded Australian Kangaroo stylized shipping box.
Queen Elizabeth II is featured on the obverse side of 2020 1 oz Silver Australian Kangaroos. This is the sixth-generation Australian design of the Queen for national coinage and the first since 1966 to include the Queen’s shoulders in the portrait. The image depicts the Queen in right-profile relief with the impressive George IV State Diadem Crown, a piece in the Crown Jewels with 1,333 diamonds in the setting.
Two kangaroos are shown on the reverse face of 2020 Silver Australian Kangaroos. This is the exclusive design for the 2020 date mark and depicts a mother kangaroo in the foreground with her young joey in the background. The two seem on-alert for danger as their heads and ears are raised.
On the reverse field of the coin, you will instantly notice the 24-karat gilded layer of gold. This layer of gold is thin and does not significantly add to the precious metal value of the coin, but it does create an impressive visual contrast.
