Each 2020 1 oz Silver Australian Kangaroo Coin in this product listing is available to you inside of a protective plastic flip. The Silver Australian Kangaroo coins were introduced in 2015 with 2016 date marks. These coins didn’t only mark the introduction of a Silver Kangaroo, but also the first-ever .9999 fine silver bullion coin from the Perth Mint. Australian Kangaroo coins date back to 1989 with the Gold Nugget Series transitioned to the Gold Kangaroo with 1990 date marks. It was another 26 years until the silver bullion version debuted.

On the reverse of 2020 1 oz Silver Australian Kangaroo Coins is a depiction of a red kangaroo in left-profile relief. This design is based on an image from Stuart Devlin and is inspired by the 1938 copper penny the Perth Mint introduced into circulation in Australia. That coin featured the red kangaroo in left-profile relief with the Commonwealth star. These coins have only the red kangaroo, the largest terrestrial mammal on the Australian continent and the largest living marsupial in the world.

The obverse of 2020 Silver Australian Kangaroo Coins includes the latest effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. This is the sixth-generation design for Australian coins and was created by Jody Clark. Mr. Clark also created the fifth-generation Royal Mint of England design in 2015. This latest design for Australian coins is the first since 1966 to include the Queen’s shoulders and neckline.

Since the 2016 introduction of the Silver Australian Kangaroo, the Perth Mint has sold 26 million units of this popular coin. With the 2019 date marks sold out, the Perth Mint is introducing the 2020 Silver Kangaroo early!
