The first design in 2020 for The Allegories Series at the Germania Mint is the Italia & Germania image. Each release in this series to date has paired Germania, the female personification of Germany, with the personifications of other countries. The series has already presented the thawing relationship between Britain and Germany and the deep, historical ancestral ties between the United States and Germany. The Allegories Series brings a literary device to life through brilliant designs. An allegory is an artistic and literary device that uses a symbol to represent a place, event, monument, or even a nation. Female personifications of cultures, nations, or peoples have been in common practice in Europe for more than 2,000 years. For example, the first release of this series featured Britannia alongside Germania. Britannia has been associated with Britons and the British Isles for more than 2,000 years dating back to the Roman Empire’s colonization of England.
All of 2020 1 oz Silver Germania The Allegories Italia & Germania Rounds available here come with a protective acrylic capsule and are in brand-new condition. The 1 oz silver round in the series has the highest mintage at a total of 25,000 silver rounds. That is more than the combined mintage of the other three weights of 10 oz, 5 oz, and 2 oz silver.
On the obverse side of 2020 Silver Germania The Allegories Italia & Germania Rounds is a depiction of the two female allegories. Italia represents Italy and its people and she is shown leaning against a pedestal. With her right hand resting on the pedestal, there is a Horn of Plenty near it and comes with a turreted crown on her head. Next to Italia is the figure of Germania who extends her right hand in friendship to the shoulder of Italia and uses her left hand to warmly welcome her.
The reverse face of the 2020 1 oz Silver Germania The Allegories Italia & Germania Rounds includes the coat of arms for the Germania Mint. This design comes with a crowned shield that is quartered. The four quadrants of the shield include a double-headed eagle, a checkered field, a ribbon with three flowers, and a wild boar. The shield is flanked by a wreath of oak leaves.
