For those who buy silver in North America, there are three major silver coin programs to choose from each year. The Silver American Eagle and Silver Canadian Maple Leaf attract a lot of attention, but the Silver Mexican Libertad is older than both programs and offers its own inspiring design with government-backed silver content and purity. Silver Mexican Libertad coins are like their counterparts in many ways. The Mexican Mint uses the same design concept on the obverse and reverse each year, though it is worth noting that the image of Winged Victory was modernized in the early 2000s to better reflect the statue of Winged Liberty on which the design is inspired. The original Silver Libertad coins had the same design from the gold Centenario coin issued by the Mexican Mint in 1921.
All 2020 1 oz Silver Mexican Libertad Coins are available to you individually with protective plastic flips. Purchasing multiple coins results in Silver Libertads shipping in mint tubes with 25 coins per tube or bags of 450 coins. All individual coins in this listing are available in Brilliant Uncirculated condition.
On the obverse of 2020 Silver Mexican Libertad Coins is a depiction of Winged Victory. These coins are known as Libertads because the Spanish word for Libertad translates as “liberty” into English. The design on the Silver Mexican Libertad coins originally reflected that from the 1921 gold Centenario coins issued to mark 100 years of independence. In the early 2000s, the Mexican Mint modernized the design and used the statue of Winged Victory from the Mexican Independence Victory Column as inspiration for the new design. It captures Winged Victory in a slight-left profile relief rather than front-facing as the design originally did.
The reverse of 2020 1 oz Silver Mexican Libertad Coins includes the image of the coat of arms for Mexico. The modern seal is set in the center of the design field with 10 historical versions of the same design surrounding it in a circular shape.
