The seahorse is one of the most unique marine species in the world when it comes to relationships and breeding. Seahorses actually go through a courtship phase during the breeding season and it is up to the male of the species to carry the eggs. Female seahorses will deposit eggs into the pouch of the ventral side of a male’s tail and the male will then carry the eggs for 9 to 45 days before the fully-developed seahorses emerge.
All of the 2020 1 oz Silver Samoa Seahorse Coins are available here to you in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The silver coins come with protective plastic capsules for individual coins or sealed skinboards for multiples of five coins.
On the obverse side of the 2020 Silver Samoa Seahorse is a depiction of the seahorse in right-profile relief. The seahorse shown here has an ornate “coronet” on its head with elegant dorsal fins on the back of the body. The seahorse has a head shaped like that of a horse, giving the animal its popular name. The marine species has a long, curled prehensile tail. Included in the design element are bubbles and stylized ocean waves in the foreground.
The reverse face of 2020 1 oz Silver Samoa Seahorses comes with an image of the national coat of arms for Samoa. The seal includes a shield that has a palm tree with an ocean view at the top, as well as the Southern Cross constellation in the bottom half. The design element comes with a beaded border.
Samoa is a sovereign state in the Commonwealth of Nations and was originally settled by Polynesian people roughly 3,500 years ago. The nation uses the Southern Cross constellation in its national flag design.
