The original Icelandic sagas from the late 13th century first spoke of Fafnir as a dwarf who had a powerful arm and a fearless nature in his soul. Fafnir eventually finds himself cursed by a ring and gold by another dwarf, Andvari. As a result, Fafnir is turned into a dragon and is eventually slain by Sigurd. Before he is slain, Fafnir is assigned to protect his father’s house of glittering gold.

In this distinctive release of the Silver Germania Beasts Fafnir Rounds, several unique visual effects are present on the silver rounds. First and foremost, the entirety of the 2 oz silver round has a ruthenium plating, combining two precious metals in one product. Additionally, a “chameleon” finish is applied to the body of Fafnir to create changing visuals on the body of the dragon. As you change the angle you view the round from, his body shimmers and the colors change.

The obverse side of 2020 2 oz Silver Germania Beasts Fafnir Ultra High Relief Rounds, you will find a depiction of the body of Fafnir as he drops down into the design element from the top of the field. His body swirls back up to the middle where his head is propped up and his mouth is open.

On the reverse face of 2020 Silver Germania Beasts Fafnir Ultra High Relief Rounds is a depiction of the bottom half of Fafnir’s body. The body of the dragon swirls to the very tip of his tale, with the entirety of his body encircling the Germania Mint logo at the center.

These 2020 2 oz Silver Germania Beasts Fafnir Ultra High Relief Rounds are available inside of acrylic glass cases with an engraving and features a wooden stand. The real wood stand is secured in a Qureco, an eco-carton box made just for this release.
