A confluence of unique factors came together in March and April 2020 that resulted in the Philadelphia Mint coining large numbers of the Silver American Eagle bullion coin for the first time since 1999 and 2000. A global pandemic resulted in a run on gold and silver bullion, with 1 oz Silver American Eagles at the top of the heap.

As this was happening, the West Point Mint announced a sellout of its on-hand 2020 Silver Eagles. Then, the West Point Mint had to cut back its workforce to protect its employees during the pandemic. This was followed by a seven-day closure of the West Point Mint in mid-April. At that point in time, these 2020 (P) Silver American Eagles were produced by the Philadelphia Mint as a special emergency issue to help meet increased demand amidst a downturn in capacity at the West Point Mint.

The coins in this 2020 (P) Silver American Eagle listing are packaged in Monster Boxes after coining at the Philadelphia Mint. There are no mint marks on the coins and the only way to identify the coins as having come from Philadelphia is by the tracking numbers and signatures on the Monster Boxes.

The obverse of each coin in the 2020 (P) Silver American Eagle Monster Box comes with the image of Walking Liberty. This design was created in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman for the US Mint and once featured on the half dollar until 1947. It depicts Liberty in left-profile relief wearing the American flag over her shoulders and carrying the branches of oak and laurel that signify American civic and military success.

On the reverse side of 2020 (P) Silver Eagles in this Monster Box is the heraldic eagle of the United States. This iconic design features the eagle in front-facing position with its head looking toward the olive branch of peace in one talon while the other talon clutches the arrows of war. The US national shield is on the bird’s chest and 13 stars are arranged above its head in a triangular cluster.

Are your products actually in stock?

Yes. We are one of the few bullion dealers in the industry who only deems products "in stock" when we have them on-hand and ready to ship immediately. In the instance of a presale item, we denote that the product is on presale and the estimated shipping date. While we make the best efforts to hit presale dates, the dates are only estimates, given we cannot control mint production issues and/or carrier dealyes.

Why are multiple prices listed?

We offer a 4% discount to "cash" paying customers - with paper check, bank wire, and bitcoin payments being defined as cash. On many products, we are also able to offer volume discounts to customers purchasing large quantities of the same item. When do I lock in my price?

All prices are locked in at the time of purchase.
