The Silver American Eagles from the United States Mint are available annually in bullion, proof, and burnished versions. The 1986 debut of the coin series included the BU and Proof versions of the coin, all struck at the San Francisco Mint facility. Issued by three of the four branch facilities of the US Mint, the Proof Silver Eagles have featured the same designs. However, 2021 will bring change and 2020’s release of S-Proof Silver American Eagles marks the last time proof versions of the coin will come from the San Francisco Mint with the original reverse field. Now, 2020-S 1 oz Proof Silver American Eagles are available to you for purchase online at Silver.com.

In 1986, the coins of the Proof Silver Eagles collection at the United States Mint have featured the same designs. Adolph A. Weinman’s Walking Liberty design was created in 1916 and revived as the face of the new Silver Eagle Series. On the reverse field of the coins, mint artist John Mercanti developed a modern version of the heraldic eagle of the United States for the reverse.

In late 2019, the United States Mint announced that the 35th anniversary of the Silver Eagle and Gold Eagle coins would come with new designs on the reverse field. For the Silver Eagle, this means the replacement of the heraldic eagle from Mercanti. However, the 2020-S Proof Silver Eagle marks the final release of a Proof Silver Eagle from the San Francisco Mint with the heraldic eagle design.

The obverse face of the 2020-S Proof Silver American Eagle comes with a depiction of Walking Liberty. This design shows Liberty walking toward the sun on the horizon with her right hand extended out toward the sun cresting the mountaintop as her left hand carries the branches of oak and laurel. She wears the American flag over her shoulders.

On the reverse field of 2020-S 1 oz Proof Silver Eagles is an image of the heraldic eagle of the United States. The design showcase the bald eagle with the US national shield, arrows of war, and the olive branch of peace.

These 2020-S 1 oz Proof Silver American Eagles are available to purchase with proof visuals. Each one is housed in a protective capsule, a blue display box, and a themed shipper. The coins also come with a Certificate of Authenticity.
