Silver Eagles have been available from the United States Mint since 1986. The BU Silver Eagles have been issued each year between this time, with only the coins from 2011 onward featuring date marks that have Silver Eagles struck at more than one mint in the same year. For example, in 2011 the US Mint issued supplemental coins from San Francisco in addition to the coins from the West Point Mint.
All of the 2020 (S) 1 oz Silver American Eagles in this listing come with a protective slab and a perfect grade. A Mint State 70 coin has full, original mint luster and no detractions of any kind on the field or design strike. First Day of Issue designations are reserved for coins that were received by the PCGS within 24 hours of release from the US Mint. Although these coins are products of the San Francisco Mint, none have a mint mark. BU Silver Eagles do not bear mint marks.
On the obverse of 2020 (S) Silver Eagles is an image known as Walking Liberty. The depiction of Liberty shown here was created in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman for the US Mint. Her full-length figure is shown here in left-profile relief as she walks toward the sun as it crests a mountain on the horizon. The image shows Liberty with her right hand outstretched and her left carrying branches of oak and laurel, while the American flag is draped around her figure.
The reverse side of 2020 (S) 1 oz Silver American Eagles features John Mercanti’s design of the heraldic eagle. The design shows the bald eagle in front-facing relief as it clutches the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace in its talons. There is a cluster of 13 stars arranged in a triangle above the head of the bird.
