The Proof Gold Eagles were introduced by the US Mint over the course of three years. These 1 oz coins debuted in the same year as the bullion versions of the coin, but debuted alone without the three fractional-ounce options. The 1/2 oz coin arrived in 1987, followed by the 1/4 oz and 1/10 oz coins in 1988.

The obverse field of the 2020-W 1 oz Proof Gold American Eagle has the iconic Liberty design from Augustus Saint-Gaudens. In this design, Liberty’s figure is surrounded by a ring of 50 stars on the outer field with rays of sunshine emerging from behind her figure. She holds a large torch out in her right hand to light the way and carries an olive branch in her left hand to symbolize peace.

On the reverse side of 2020 1 oz Proof Gold American Eagles is a design of bald eagles. This artwork was created in 1986 by Miley Busiek and features a male eagle flying over a nest that contains a female eagle and a young hatchling.

These 2020-W 1 oz Proof Gold American Eagle Coins are available to you today with PF70 certifications. Considered perfect coins, each one showcases full, original mint luster and no detracting flaws. As UCAM specimens, the coins have strong, frosted designs above deeply-mirrored, clear fields. The Early Release designation indicates the coins were received by the NGC within 30 days of release by the US Mint.
