The gold coins of the Gold American Eagle Series are available to investors and collectors in 2021 with a new design for the first time ever. This landmark change replaces Miley Busiek’s reverse image of a family of bald eagles with an all-new design from Jennie Norris that focuses on the natural beauty and power of the bald eagle. Released with the Type 2 version in 2021, the new design is here to take the program in a new direction for the future. Right now, 2021 1/10 oz Gold American Eagle Type 2 Coins in near-perfect condition are available to purchase online at Silver.com.

Each of the 2021 1/10 oz Gold American Eagle Type 2 Coins in this product listing at Silver.com comes with a certification from the NGC. The Mint State 69 certification is given to coins that are considered near-perfect specimens. Coins in this condition exhibit full, original mint luster and a maximum of two minor flaws. Examples of acceptable flaws at this grade level include only minuscule contact marks or hairlines and must be located outside of the primary focal points of the coin.

The release of the 2021 Gold Eagles actually went through two versions. To start the 2021 release cycle, the US Mint continued with the original Liberty obverse – Family of Bald Eagles reverse. These coins have become known as Type 1 coins. In July 2021, the US Mint introduced the Type 2 coins with the same Liberty obverse, but an all-new bald eagle reverse.

The obverse side of 2021 1/10 oz Gold Eagle Type 2 Coins features the historic Liberty design from Augustus Saint-Gaudens. The design was created in 1907 and shows Liberty’s full-length figure in front-facing relief as she walks toward the viewer. Liberty is surrounded by a ring of 50 stars and framed by sun rays as she walks forward holding aloft a torch and carrying an olive branch.

On the reverse face of 2021 Gold American Eagle Type 2 Coins is the brand-new bald eagle image. Designed by Jennie Norris in 2020, the image showcases the natural beauty of the bird as it captures all the physical characteristics of its head in a stunning new design.
