When the United States Mint introduced the Gold Eagles in 1986, the series featured a historic design on the obverse and an exclusive design on the reverse. The obverse then featured, and still does, the historic design from the Gold $20 Double Eagle. Created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens in 1907, this vision of Liberty is considered the greatest American coin design of all time by many.

For the reverse, the coins featured a design from Miley Busiek. Her design of a family of American bald eagles was used exclusively on these coins through the 2021 Type 1 coin releases. With the release of the 2021 Type 2 coin, the US Mint debuts an all-new design from Jennie Norris.

The obverse side of 2021 1/10 oz Gold American Eagle Type 2 Coins features Saint-Gaudens’ full-length figure of Liberty. Set in front-facing relief, Liberty walks toward the viewer holding a torch aloft in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. Rays of sunshine frame her figure from behind and a ring of 50 stars encircles the field.

On the reverse face of 2021 Gold American Eagle Type 2 Coins is an image of the American bald eagle. Newly designed by Jennie Norris, this image shows the head of the bald eagle in left-profile relief with its powerful, hooked beak, sharp, keen gaze, and incredible levels of detail in its plumage.

These 2021 1/10 oz Gold American Eagle Type 2 Coins are perfect specimens according to the NGC. Mint State 70 coins showcase full, original mint luster with no detracting flaws of any kind present. Early Release coins are those received by the NGC for grading within 30 days of the initial release.
