The reverse field with the American bald eagle will be changing in 2021, but with the initial coins in production and the new design not quite ready, there is one last chance to get the traditional Gold Eagle design on a 2021-dated coin.

The US Mint announced in late 2019 that the 35th-anniversary date mark in the American Eagle Series, the 2021 issue, would feature new design elements on the reverse. To be replaced in the collection are the heraldic eagle design on the reverse of the Silver Eagles and the family of American bald eagles in a nest on the reverse of the Gold Eagles. Those designs are, however, not ready yet, and as such the US Mint is opening up 2021 Gold Eagle production with the traditional designs for the first part of the year.
All of the 2021 1/10 oz Gold American Eagles available at Silver.com are in Brilliant Uncirculated condition from the United States Mint. The coins are housed individually inside of plastic flips or in mint tubes containing a total of 50 gold coins.
On the obverse side of 2021 1/10 oz Gold American Eagles is the iconic image of Lady Liberty. Designed in 1907 by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, this bust of Liberty was used on the $20 Gold Double Eagle until 1933. The design features Liberty in front-facing relief as she walks toward the viewer holding aloft a torch in her right hand to light the way into the future and an olive branch in her left hand to symbolize a desire for peace.
The reverse face of 2021 Gold American Eagles comes with a depiction of a family of American bald eagles. Designed in 1986 by Miley Busiek and exclusive to the Gold Eagles since that time, the imagery shows a family nest with a female eagle sheltering a young hatchling as a male eagle flies overhead.
