In October 2019, the US Mint announced its intentions to refresh the reverse design element on the Gold Eagle and Silver Eagle coins as part of the 35th anniversary of the series in 2021. The COVID-19 pandemic delayed the process quite a bit throughout 2020, but also resulted in a unique dual release in 2021.

The US Mint started the 2021 release schedule with the original design combinations on the coins of the BU and Proof Series for the Gold Eagle. These coins have become known as 2021 Type 1 coins to differentiate them from the 2021 Type 2 coins, the latter featuring the new reverse image from Jennie Norris.

For the obverse of the coins in the 2021 1/10 oz Proof Gold American Eagle 2-Coin Designer Set, you will find an effigy of Lady Liberty. Her full-length figure is shown in front-facing relief with a torch in her right hand, an olive branch in her left, sun rays behind her figure, and a ring of 50 stars around the design field.

The reverse of the 2021 1/10 oz Proof Gold Eagles in this 2-Coin Designer Set shows off the original design from 1986 on the Type 1 coin and the brand-new bald eagle portrait on the Type 2 coin. The original design was created by Miley Busiek and has featured exclusively on the Gold Eagle since 1986. Jennie Norris’ new bald eagle portrait on the reverse debuts with the issue of Type 2 coins and will lead this series into the future for a new generation of investors and collectors.

These 2021 1/10 oz Proof Gold American Eagle 2-Coin Designer Sets come with individual capsules for each coin. The coins are packaged together in a black US Mint presentation box with an outer sleeve that features both reverse designs in the artwork on the cover. Are your products actually in stock?

Yes. We are one of the few bullion dealers in the industry who only deems products "in stock" when we have them on-hand and ready to ship immediately. In the instance of a presale item, we denote that the product is on presale and the estimated shipping date. While we make the best efforts to hit presale dates, the dates are only estimates, given we cannot control mint production issues and/or carrier dealyes.

Why are multiple prices listed?

We offer a 4% discount to "cash" paying customers - with paper check, bank wire, and bitcoin payments being defined as cash.
