With the release of its Type 2 Gold Eagles, the United States Mint introduces a new era for the nation’s official gold bullion series. After striking 2021-dated coins with the original design elements on the obverse and reverse, the US Mint switched to its new reverse design element on the Type 2 coins. Today, 2021 1/2 oz Gold American Eagle Type 2 Coins in near-perfect condition are available to you online at Silver.com.

  • Available to you inside NGC protective plastic slabs!
  • 35th anniversary in the Gold American Eagle Series!
  • All-new eagle design on the reverse!
  • Availability of certified coins is limited!
  • Consists of One-Half Troy ounce of actual gold content.
  • The face value of $25 (USD) is fully backed by the US government.
  • Graded Mint State 69 by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation.
  • On the obverse is an effigy of Lady Liberty.
  • The reverse field features a new bald eagle design.

Gold American Eagles were introduced by the United States Mint in 1986. The coins were the first gold coins issued by the US Mint since 1933 and the purest gold coins the US Mint had issued since 1834. Each Gold American Eagle has 22-karat gold content with 91.67% gold content per coin, as well as 5.33% copper and 3% silver.

All of these 2021 1/2 oz Gold American Eagles are available to you for purchase in near-perfect condition. Coins in this condition have full, original mint luster with no more than two minor detractions. Examples of acceptable detracting flaws include minuscule contact marks or hairlines that must be located outside of the primary focal points of the coin.

On the obverse of 2021 Gold American Eagle Type 2 Coins, you will find the historic image of Lady Liberty. Designed in 1907 by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, the image of Liberty in this design is a full-length figure that walks toward the viewer. She is holding up a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. There are rays of sun behind her figure and the U.S. Capitol Building near her feet. There is also a ring of 50 stars around the design element.

The reverse side of the 2021 1/2 oz Gold Eagle Type 2 Coin comes with an all-new depiction of the bald eagle in left-profile relief. This all-new design from Jennie Norris was chosen from more than 30 possible design elements to be the new face of the Gold American Eagle. Her new creation features a bald eagle in left-profile relief.
