With the release of the 2021 Gold American Eagles, the United States Mint marks a new era in coining for the popular gold bullion series. As part of the 35th anniversary of the series, the US Mint has chosen new American bald eagle reverse designs for its Silver Eagle and Gold Eagle programs, with the designs chosen from submissions generated by the artists of its Artistic Infusion Program. Now, 2021 1/2 oz Gold American Eagle Type 2 Coins are available to you for purchase online at Silver.com.

Coin Highlights:

  • Coins ship to you inside plastic flips or tubes of 40!
  • 35th-anniversary year of availability in the 1/2 oz Gold American Eagle Series!
  • Consists of One-Half Troy ounce of actual gold content in BU condition.
  • Issued a face value of $25 (USD) by the United States.
  • The obverse features Lady Liberty.
  • On the reverse is an all-new American bald eagle image in left-profile relief.
  • Brand-new design from Jennie Norris!

To mark 35 years of successful, popular coining, the United States Mint is positioning its leading coin programs for continued success for another 35 years and beyond. The Silver Eagle and Gold Eagle programs are each gaining new design elements on the reverse, with each getting its own distinctive design while continuing with its existing obverse image of Liberty.

For the reverse of the new 2021 Gold American Eagle Type 2 Coins, a design from Jennie Norris was chosen as the new reverse face of the program. This design is Ms. Norris’ first contribution to the United States Mint as a member of the Artistic Infusion Program and beat out 35 other potential designs.

The obverse side of 2021 1/2 oz Gold Eagles features the image of Liberty. Set in front-facing relief, she strides forward holding up a torch in her right hand to light the way as she carries a large olive branch in her left hand symbolizing peace. Other elements include an outer ring of 50 stars around the design, rays of sunshine from the background horizon, and the U.S. Capitol Building at her feet.

On the reverse of the 2021 1/2 oz Gold Eagle Type 2 is Ms. Norris’ new image of the bald eagle. The powerful aerial predator’s head is featured here in left-profile relief with incredible levels of detail capturing each of the feathers in its plumage.

These 2021 1/2 oz Gold American Eagle Type 2 Coins are available in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The coins will ship in plastic flips or tubes of 40 coins.
