  • Mintage is unlimited into 2021!
  • Consists of One-Half Troy ounce of .9999 fine gold in BU condition.
  • Issued a face value of $50 (AUD) by Australia.
  • The obverse showcases a bust of Queen Elizabeth II.
  • On the reverse is an adult ox near bamboo stalks.
  • Artwork by Ing Ing Jong.

The designs of the Lunar Series III collection are all new for each release and offer separate silver and gold designs. With the release of the Lunar Series III collection, the Perth Mint introduced a new 1 oz platinum bullion coin as well. The silver coins have a distinctive design that is in keeping with Lunar Series II themes by showcasing two oxen, while the gold design continues the use of an image of just one animal. The new platinum coins share the same design as the gold coins.

Ing Ing Jong is the leading designer of Lunar Series images for the Perth Mint. Hired as an artist and coin designer by Perth in 2011, Ms. Jong’s first contribution to lunar collections came with the 2013 Year of the Snake issue in the Lunar Series II collection. She continued to produce images for the Lunar Series II collection and has developed both designs in the Lunar Series III program to date.

The obverse of the 2021 1/2 oz Gold Australian Lunar Ox Coin showcases a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is shown in right-profile relief with a sixth-generation design created by Jody Clark. The image shows the Queen wearing the George IV State Diadem crown.

On the reverse side of 2021 Gold Australian Lunar Ox Coins is an image of the ox. A powerful draft animal, oxen have been used in agricultural societies for more than 6,000 years and were first harnessed and worked by humans around 4000 BCE. The design here shows an adult ox standing amidst bamboo stalks.

These 2021 1/2 oz Gold Australian Lunar Ox Coins are available to you in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The coins come with either an individual acrylic capsule or a sealed roll of 20 gold coins from the Perth Mint.
