Each version of the Gold Libertad from the Mexican Mint has had a rocky start to production life. The BU Gold Libertads were issued in three weights in 1981, not issued again until the 1990s when a four-year run saw five coin weights issued in all. These coins halted again in 1995, before returning in 2000, missing 2001, and finally entering annual production in 2002. The Proof Gold Libertads started with one coin issued in 1989 and then not again until 2004 when a different singular weight was issued. As of 2005, all five weights are available annually. The Reverse Proof Gold Libertad may only have 1 oz and 1/2 oz gold options, but it has remained in production each year since 2018.
All of these 2021 1/2 oz Reverse Proof Gold Mexican Libertads are available to you for purchase online with protective plastic capsules. The coins come with reverse-proof visuals that deliver mirrored design elements overlaying frosted background fields.
The obverse side of 2021 Reverse Proof Gold Libertads comes with a depiction of Winged Victory. This design is a modern version of the Winged Victory effigy that first appeared on Mexican gold coins in 1921 with the release of the 50 Peso Centenario coin. The image shows Winged Victory clutching a laurel wreath in one hand and a set of broken chains in the other.
On the reverse field of 2021 1/2 oz Reverse Proof Gold Mexican Libertads is the Mexican coat of arms. The national seal features a golden eagle battling with a snake while perched on the arm of a prickly pear cactus. The field includes an inscription of the nation of issue above with an oak-and-laurel wreath below.
