In the Gold Libertad Series from the Mexican Mint, investors have a choice between five weights each year. The Gold Libertad debuted in 1981 with 1 oz, 1/2 oz, and 1/4 oz gold coins, with the 1991 release of the coins bringing 1/10 oz and 1/20 oz weights into the fold. To this day, the 1/20 oz Gold Mexican Libertad remains the smallest option available to investors. Right now, 2021 1/20 oz Gold Mexican Libertads are available to purchase online at Silver.com.

The Mexican Gold Libertad Coin has variable mintage levels each year, but in many of its modern releases, the coins have largely had the same mintages regardless of weight. For example, the 1/20 oz Gold Libertad was the joint second-highest minted coin in 2019 with a total of 1,500 coins. That was the same figure sold in the 1/4 oz and 1/2 oz weight, and just below the 2,000 coins sold in the 1 oz gold coin. Conversely, it was just above the 1,250 coins sold in the 1/10 oz gold weight.
The obverse side of 2021 1/20 oz Gold Mexican Libertads features a depiction of the Mexican coat of arms. The coat of arms for Mexico depicts a golden eagle resting on the perch of a prickly pear cactus. The bird is using its talons and beak to try and control a rattlesnake so it can be consumed. There is an oak-and-laurel wreath below the cactus design, with the nation of issue inscribed in Spanish above.
On the reverse field of the 2021 Gold Mexican Libertad is the statue of Winged Victory. The statue itself rests atop the Mexican Independence Victory Column. The statue was made from copper and built in 1910 to mark the 100th anniversary of the nation launching a revolution to throw off the shackles of colonial control by Spain. Victory holds out a wreath crown in one hand while clutching the broken chains of servitude in the other.
