The Gold Somalia Elephant coins have been available from the Bavarian State Mint since 1999. Originally issued as the Gold Zambia Elephants from 1999 to 2003, the collection has long featured a 1 oz gold coin as the primary option to investors even before the 2004 switch to Somalia. Since 2016, the series has expanded to offer some of the most robust options to investors, ensuring that gold is attainable by all precious metals buyers. Right now, 2021 1/25 oz Gold Somalia Elephants are available to purchase online at Silver.com.

The Bavarian State Mint has issued the African Wildlife Elephant Series since 1999. At that time, it was known as the Zambia Elephant Series and offered only 1 oz silver and 1 oz gold. In 2004, it became the Somalia Elephant Series. As of 2016, the Gold Elephants come in a stunning range of options that include 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/10 oz, 1/25 oz, 1/50 oz, and 1 Gram gold. It was the only collection to combine such unique fractional-ounce and gram options for investors.

The obverse side of 2021 1/25 oz Gold Somalia Elephants comes with a depiction of the national coat of arms. The Somali coat of arms features a crowned shield with a background field of horizontal lines and a single star set in the center above the lines. The shield is supported on each side by leopards with crossed spears and fern leaves below.

On the reverse face of the 2021 Gold Somalia Elephant is an image of the African bush elephant. The largest living land mammal in the world, the African bush elephant is one of only three remaining elephant species alive today, two of which live on the African continent. In this year’s design element, the bush elephant is shown walking toward the foreground. Leaves are shown above its head in the foreground and another tree is visible in the distant background.
