Gold American Eagle coins from the United States Mint were introduced in 1986. The coins were initially offered in four weights in the BU Series, with only a 1 oz Proof gold coin in 1986. In 1987 and 1988, the other three weights were introduced in the Proof Gold Series. In 2006, the Burnished version of the coin was introduced and remains available only in 1 oz gold.

Throughout its four decades in production, the United States Mint has never altered one of the major design elements of the coins. For the first time ever, the 35th anniversary of the series brings with it a new design on the reverse field of the coins.

The obverse field of 2021 Gold American Eagle Type 2 Coins comes with an image of Lady Liberty. This iconic design features Liberty in front-facing relief with a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. The design field includes the U.S. Capitol Building at her feet, rays of sun behind her figure, and a ring of 50 stars around the design element.

On the reverse side of the 2021 1/4 oz Gold Eagle Type 2 Coin is a design of the American bald eagle. The bird is featured in left-profile relief with its hooked beak captured in the design and each feather in its plumage expertly detailed.

These 2021 1/4 oz Gold American Eagle Type 2 Coins come to you in near-perfect condition. Coins with a Mint State 69 certification showcase full, original mint luster with no more than two minor detracting flaws. Those flaws must be located outside of the primary focal points of the coin and are limited in nature to minuscule contact marks or hairlines.
