Introduced in 1986, the Gold American Eagle enters its fifth decade in production as it celebrates its 35th-anniversary release with the 2021 date mark. This date mark will go down as the most significant in the history of the program thanks to the planned release of a new design on the reverse midway through the year, making it the only release ever to feature two different designs in one year. Right now, 2021 1/4 oz Gold American Eagles are available to you for purchase online at Silver.com in perfect condition.

Coins in Mint State 70 condition exhibit full, original mint luster and present with no detracting flaws on the design elements or background fields. The 2021 date mark for the 1/4 oz Gold Eagle starts off with the original design combinations of Lady Liberty on the obverse and the family of American bald eagles on the reverse. By mid-2021, the US Mint will release the first design change in the history of the series when a new depiction of the American bald eagle comes to the reverse. The 2021 date mark is not only the lone date mark with two different designs, it is also the first date mark in which the design of the coins has changed.

The obverse side of 2021 1/4 oz Gold American Eagles features the image of Lady Liberty. This depiction was created in 1907 and shows Liberty in front-facing relief walking away from Washington DC with rays of sunshine behind her figure. There is a ring of 50 stars around the design element representing each state in the Union.

On the reverse field of the 2021 Gold American Eagle is a depiction of a family of American bald eagles. The design comes from Miley Busiek and features a male eagle in flight above the family nest, within which a female and a hatchling are resting.
