The Gold Kangaroo Series from the Perth Mint is just like many of its silver bullion counterparts. Though it offers far more options in terms of weight than its silver bullion counterparts, it is just like those programs in the use of new reverse designs every year. Additionally, all of the Perth Mint’s major silver and gold coins come with images of endemic, native animals of the Australian continent. Today, 2021 1/4 oz Gold Australian Kangaroos are available to you online at Silver.com.

Coin Highlights:

  • Available to ship to you inside of protective acrylic capsules!
  • 35th year of release for the Gold Australian Kangaroos!
  • Mintage limited to 150,000 coins only!
  • Consists of One-Quarter Troy ounce of .9999 fine gold in BU condition.
  • The face value of $25 (AUD) is fully backed by the Australian government.
  • On the obverse is Queen Elizabeth II.
  • The reverse shows a crouched kangaroo.
  • Artwork from Natasha Muhl.

The Perth Mint once again issues the Gold Australian Kangaroos in 2021 with mintage caps in place that carry over at the same levels, by weight, in use for the last several years. The mintage caps in place on the fractional-ounce coins have long been the lowest for the 1/2 oz and the highest for the 1/10 oz coin. The 1/4 oz coin has fallen neatly in the middle of those with a mintage of 150,000 coins. That’s 50,000 more than the 1/2 oz gold coin and 50,000 less than the 1/10 oz gold coin.

All of the 2021 1/4 oz Gold Australian Kangaroos in this listing come with a protective acrylic capsule to house the coin. Each one is in Brilliant Uncirculated condition and will be available with the aforementioned mintage. Once the coins reach that mintage cap, the Perth Mint will no longer produce more of the 2021 design in this weight.

On the obverse of the 2021 Gold Australian Kangaroo is a right-profile bust of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is the longest-reigning monarch in British history. She ascended to the throne in 1952 upon the death of her father, King George VI, and has reigned for nearly 70 years. She surpassed her own great-grandmother, Queen Victoria, for the title as England’s longest-reigning monarch.

The reverse face of 2021 1/4 oz Gold Australian Kangaroos features the image of a red kangaroo. In this design, the red kangaroo is shown as it crouches near the Waratah and Kangaroo Paw plants that loom in the background field of the design element. The red kangaroo is one of four kangaroo subspecies, along with the eastern grey, western grey, and antilopine.
