Hogwarts Castle is more than just a dwelling or defensive structure. The castle was built in the Early Middle Ages to serve as a school for magical children. A wizard architect worked with the founders of the school to build a massive structure that would provide classrooms and living quarters for children attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

The castle at Hogwarts has some 142 different staircases throughout its sprawling complex. Standing seven stories in total, the castle has countless turrets and deep dungeons beneath that hide a wealth of secrets. The students of the school live in one of four dormitory houses: Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Slytherin, and Gryffindor.

The obverse of 2021 1 Kilo Antique Silver Samoa Hogwarts Castle Coins features the image of Queen Elizabeth II. Designed in 1998 by Ian Rank-Broadley, this effigy of the Queen is a right-profile relief that shows her wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara.

On the reverse side of 2021 Antique Silver Samoa Hogwarts Castle Coins is the design of the exterior of Hogwarts. The castle is struck on this side of the coin in brilliant high relief. The deep background gives added 3D depth to the castle, with the name HARRY POTTER inscribed on the face of the castle and the house crests of each of the four dormitory houses featured within the field.
