Each 2021 1 oz Colorized Silver Canadian Maple Leaf in this product listing is available in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. Silver Canadian Maple Leafs with a colorized lacquer have beautiful visuals. These coins are not specially struck by the Royal Canadian Mint. Instead, these coins are standard BU specimens from the mint that were altered after release by the mint, with the alterations made by third-party dealers. The colorized lacquer is applied in a thin layer and limited in scope to both create visual contrast and enhance the beauty of coins.
The obverse of the 2021 1 oz Colorized Silver Canadian Maple Leaf depicts Queen Elizabeth II. In this right-profile portrait, the Queen is shown with no crown or tiara on her head. This is a first during the reign of the Queen as all Canadian portraits of her prior to this have included a crown. Susanna Blunt created this bust of the Queen in 2003 for use on Canadian currency as the fourth-generation portrait.
On the reverse side of 2021 Colorized Silver Canadian Maple Leafs is an image of the sugar maple leaf. The maple leaf is the national symbol of Canada and this design on the reverse of the Silver Maple Leafs comes from Walter Ott. This is the same design conceived of in 1979 when the Royal Canadian Mint introduced the Gold Maple Leaf Series. The colorization on this sugar maple leaf brings the main colors of the leaf throughout the seasons, from rich shades of green to yellow, red, orange, and brown.
