The precious metals marketplace is full of stunning silver bullion collections and series for investors and collectors to purchase. While stalwarts such as the Silver Eagle, Silver Maple Leaf, Silver Britannia, and Silver Panda are all exceedingly popular, there is still a niche for limited-issue BU programs from smaller nations. The Prehistoric Life Series issued for the Democratic Republic of Congo is a perfect example. Now, 2021 1 oz Colorized Silver Congo Quetzalcoatlus Coins are available to you for purchase online at Silver.com.

Coin Highlights:

  • Coins ship to you inside individual acrylic capsules!
  • Sixth issue of the Silver Prehistoric Life Series!
  • Mintage limited to 2,000 colorized coins only!
  • Consists of One Troy ounce of .9999 fine silver in BU condition.
  • Issued a face value of 20 Francs by the Democratic Republic of Congo.
  • The obverse features the Congolese coat of arms.
  • On the reverse is a Quetzalcoatlus in flight.

The Quetzalcoatlus dominated the skies during the Late Cretaceous Period. One of the largest flying animals in history, the Quetzalcoatlus was a member of the Pterosaur species, a species of flying reptiles that roamed the skies from the late Triassic until the end of the Cretaceous.

Pterosaurs such as the Quetzalcoatlus were the earliest known animal species to evolve the ability to power their own flight. The wings of animals such as the Quetzalcoatlus were formed by a membrane of skin stretched out over forearms and limbs that were made of hollow bones, much like modern birds.

The obverse of 2021 1 oz Colorized Silver Quetzalcoatlus Coins features the Congolese coat of arms. Since 1997, the coat of arms for the nation has changed several times. The modern seal found here was adopted in 2006 and is similar to the seal used by the Congo from 1963-1971, by Zaire from 1971-1997, and again by Congo from 1997-1999. The nation’s tumultuous political state over the past several decades led to many changes, but the central theme of a leopard head flanked by an elephant tusk and a spear has remained the same.

On the reverse side of 2021 Colorized Quetzalcoatlus Coins is a depiction of the massive Pterosaur in flight. There is not one, but three Quetzalcoatlus featured within this colorized design field as the animals soar above a river that winds through a mountain range.

These 2021 1 oz Colorized Silver Congo Quetzalcoatlus Coins come with individual acrylic capsules. Each Brilliant Uncirculated specimen has a thin layer of colorized lacquer that helps bring the designs to life.
