Grenada is a founding member of both the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States and the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank. The OECS was founded by seven nations in 1981, and in 1983, seven of these nations also formed the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank. While the OECS has grown to include 11 nations in total, only one of those four additional nations, Anguilla, participates in the ECCB. All of the ECCB nations feature in the EC8 Series from the Scottsdale Mint.
The obverse of 2021 Colorized Silver EC8 Grenada Coins comes with a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. This design depicts Her Majesty in right-profile relief as she wears the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara. Designed in 1998 by Ian Rank-Broadley, this effigy of the Queen is the fourth-generation image for many nations.
On the reverse of the 2021 1 oz Colorized Silver Grenada Coin is a depiction of the coat of arms of Grenada. The national seal includes a golden helmet above a spade-shaped shield with roses around the helmet. The shield is quartered with a passant guardant lion in quadrants one and four, and a crescent moon with lilies in quadrants two and three. The shield is supported by an armadillo and pigeon.
In this proof colorized issue, the seal on the reverse has real-life colorization applied. Capturing the accurate colors of the national seal, this design has red on the armadillo, blue-gray on the pigeon, a golden cross through the shield, fields of red and green in the quadrants, and gold on the helmet.
