The Gold Eagles from the United States Mint replicate one of the greatest American coin designs of all time. The front-facing relief of Liberty was created in 1907 by Augustus Saint-Gaudens and used on the $20 circulating gold coin until 1933 when the United States separated its currency from the gold standard.

Coin Highlights:

  • Coins ship to you inside of individual plastic flips, tubes of 20 coins, and mint-sealed Monster Boxes of 500 coins!
  • 35th anniversary of the Gold American Eagles!
  • Consists of One Troy ounce of actual gold content.
  • Issued a face value of $50 (USD) by the United States.
  • The obverse depicts Liberty.
  • On the reverse face of the coin is a family of American bald eagles.

Augustus Saint-Gaudens was commissioned by President Theodore Roosevelt in 1905 to create a new, modern image of Liberty for American currency. Saint-Gaudens submitted four designs of Liberty to the United States Mint, with this image being chosen for the $20 Gold Double Eagle coin.

In 1986, the United States Mint introduced the new Gold American Eagle bullion series. To connect modern gold with the nation’s historic gold coins, the US Mint revived the historic Liberty design for this series. The only modification made to it was the addition of two more stars in the circle around Liberty to reflect the current 50 states.

The obverse side of 2021 1 oz Gold American Eagles features the iconic Lady Liberty image. This design shows Liberty in front-facing relief walking away from Washington D.C. with a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left hand. The US Capitol Building is visible in the background with rays of sunshine behind his figure and a ring of 50 stars around the design element.

On the reverse face of the 2021 Gold American Eagle is a depiction of a family of American bald eagles. This design was created in 1986 by Miley Busiek and is scheduled to be replaced in 2021. However, the new design is not ready for the initial striking of 2021 Gold Eagles, so the United States Mint is continuing early in the 2021 release with the original design combinations.

These 2021 1 oz Gold American Eagles are available to you individually or in multiples. Individual coins come in protective plastic flips. Multiples come in tubes of 20 coins or Monster Boxes of 500 coins. All coins are in Brilliant Uncirculated condition.
