The depiction of Noah’s Ark found on the reverse of the coins was created by Eduard Kurghinyan. The design offers a depiction of the famous tale from the Book of Genesis, one that speaks of a torrential downpour that God sent to Earth to cleanse the world of the suns of mankind. The rains lasted 40 days and 40 nights, with Noah, his family, and two of every animal species surviving on the ark throughout.

The obverse side of 2021 Gold Armenian Noah’s Ark Coins features a depiction of the modern coat of arms for the Republic of Armenia. The national seal comes with a quartered shield that features a lion in a passant pose in the first quadrant, a double-headed eagle in the second quadrant, a roundel between two eagles in the third quadrant, and a lion in a passant guardant pose in the fourth quadrant.

On the reverse field of 2021 1 oz Gold Armenian Noah’s Ark Coins is the image of Noah’s Ark. Eduard Kurghinyan’s design shows the ark as it floats on the floodwaters while the sun rises over Mount Ararat in the background. In the foreground, a dove returns to the ark with an olive branch in its talons.
