The Trident Series from Barbados and the Scottsdale Mint started in 2017. The series features 1 oz gold and 1 oz silver coins, with an additional 1/5 oz gold coin available as well. The collection features important national symbols from Barbados, including the national coat of arms and the trident head.

A trident head features on the national flag of Barbados and is purposely shown broken off from its staff. This was used to symbolize the nation’s independence from the United Kingdom. The national symbol features several times on these coins. The centerpiece of the reverse field, it also features as two small privy marks on the obverse side of the coin as well.

The obverse side of 2021 Gold Barbados Trident Coins features the coat of arms for Barbados. The national shield features a spade-shaped shield with a bearded Fig Tree at the center and Red Pride of Barbados flowers in the upper corners. There is a banner beneath the shield with the national motto, while the heraldic animals supporting the shield include a dolphin and a pelican. The shield is topped by a knight’s helmet with a hand extended upward clutching two sugar canes.

On the reverse field of the 2021 1 oz Gold Trident Coin is the trident head. In Greek mythology, the god of the sea, Poseidon, wielded the trident to control the seas and conjure up storms to meet his will.

These 2021 1 oz Gold Barbados Trident Coins are available to you with individual protective capsules. The coins come in Brilliant Uncirculated condition from the mint. The 2021 release features a new background visual effect with radiating wave lines that alternate directions with each new ring.
