Platinum Eagles are the only platinum bullion coins available from the United States Mint. More than just the sole platinum choice at the US Mint, the Platinum Eagle is also the only piece in the American Eagle program to feature new design elements each year. The designs of the proof version are changed with each date mark. Today, perfect 2021 1 oz Platinum American Eagles are available to you online at Silver.com.

Coin Highlights:

  • Available to ship to you inside of NGC protective plastic slabs!
  • 19th release of 1 oz Platinum American Eagles!
  • Availability of certified perfect coins is limited!
  • Consists of One Troy ounce of .9995 fine platinum.
  • The face value of $100 (USD) is fully backed by the American government.
  • Graded Mint State 70 by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation.
  • Early Release specimen.
  • On the obverse is the Statue of Liberty.
  • The reverse features a soaring American bald eagle.

While these BU Platinum Eagles have the same designs on the obverse and reverse field each year, the Proof Platinum Eagle stands out in the series for its use of a new design element on one side each year. From 1997 to 2017, it was the reverse design element that changed each year. During that stretch, only two coins had the same design. The 2017 coin reused the original 1997 reverse in honor of the program’s 20th anniversary. From 2018-2020, the obverse side of the coin changed visuals each year while the reverse remained static.

All of the 2021 1 oz Platinum Eagles available through this product listing come in perfect condition. A Mint State 70 grade from the NGC means the coins have full, original mint luster and present with no detracting flaws of any kind present on the design strikes or background fields. The Early Release label indicates the NGC received the coins for grading within the first 30 days after the release by the US Mint.

On the obverse of the 2021 Platinum American Eagle is the Statue of Liberty design. Created in 1997 for this series by John Mercanti, the visual focus is on the stoic gaze upon the face of Lady Liberty. She looks straight forward at the viewer wearing a crown with towering spikes.

The reverse side of 2021 1 oz Platinum American Eagles features a design from Thomas D. Rogers, a former Assistant Engraver at the United States Mint. The annual reverse design and only image to appear twice on the proof coins, this design depicts an American bald eagle soaring over the nation as the sun crests the horizon.
